A local major league baseball player is dead, but it’s not clear why.

27-year-old Tyler Skaggs pitched for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was in Texas where the team was set to take on the Texas Rangers. The team tweeted out that he died on Monday but did not indicate a cause of death.  

Tyler Skaggs was a native of Woodland Hills who graduated from Santa Monica High School. He went on to have a career with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Angels. He pitched for the team as recently as Saturday. The 27-year-old died in Texas where the team was scheduled to take on the Texas Rangers Monday night. That game has been postponed.
