The U-S Mexico border is tense now, with thousands of migrants demanding entry into the United States at the San Ysidro Port of Entry between San Diego and Tijuana.
National Border Patrol Council spokesman Chris Cabrera says the situation is boiling over because of years of Congressional neglect.
“It’s getting worse and we’ve let it go on too long and this what happens when you kick the can down the road.”
He says the migrants tend to abuse the system either through ignorance or willful disregard for U.S. law.
”If you cross through the river or hop the fence, that’s a crime in and of itself. So, will they hear your asylum claim? Yes. You will also be prosecuted. And so that’s what people don’t understand. They don’t want to wait in a long line. And it’s that me-first attitude, ‘Coming in however I can get in – you have to take me,’ and, you know, no we don’t.”
Chris Cabrero was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
