Covered California not offering cheaper short term health insurance

By

We’re in the open enrollment period for Covered California – otherwise known as Obamacare but there’s one option that won’t be on the table.

Tim Rice, Deputy Director of Health Policy for the Manhattan Institute, says new, short-term health insurance plans are exempt from the Obamacare mandates

”This is a really good alternative for millions of Americans, whether young, healthy people who don’t need comprehensive insurance; people that know they’re going to have to make three months between two jobs, or have six months before they can go on Medicare or just people who’ve flat out decided ‘I’m better off without Obamacare.’”

However, California is one of several states that has taken these affordable plans off the table.

He says the Trump administration’s support of short-term insurance is one of the most significant health care reforms of the past few years.

Tim Rice was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
