Does the phrase “innocent until proven guilty” still mean something? Are all men accused of sexual misconduct guilty as charged?
Ever since movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was exposed in an article by Ronan Farrow, it seems mere allegations and accusations can destroy a man’s reputation and his career, with or without evidence. Many are saying due process is being thrown out and innocent lives are being destroyed.
One such example, according to screenwriter Steve Stoliar, is Woody Allen. For years, Allen has been accused of sexually molesting his daughter when she was 7 years old. It’s getting more attention now, post Weinstein reckoning, and Stoliar says there’s still a lot of disinformation regarding Allen.
“My late wife was a victim of sexual abuse when she was a child. It affected our 20 year marriage so I have no sympathy for pedophiles. But, Woody was in the middle of a bitter custody battle. Two different groups in two states investigated him. In one 14 month investigation, the conclusion was Dylan hadn’t been molested, but heavily coached. I don’t believe she’s lying, it’s been put in her head. But, no charges were ever brought against him, not because there was a conspiracy of men to keep truth from seeing the light of day, but because there was no evidence whatsoever of sexual molestation.”
Ironically, Ronan Farrow is Woody Allen’s son. Stoliar was a guest on McIntyre in the Morning.
