Alleged Cop Killer Reportedly Attacks Deputy At Men’s Central Jail

Michael Mejia was being returned to his cell when the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department says he kicked a deputy in the stomach.

This happened Monday night at Men’s Central Jail. A source says the facility was put on lockdown after the incident.

This assault isn’t new for staff at the jail with the department saying there’s been a 148-percent increase in attacks on staff between 2010 and 2016.

Mejia is accused of killing his cousin and then Whittier Police Officer Keith Boyer back in February. He was on probation under AB 109 at the time.
