Health officials in Orange County have reported today on the area’s first human case of West Nile virus this year.
According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, an Anaheim woman in her 60s has been hospitalized since July and is in serious condition. Dr. Eric Handler…the county’s health office says 80 percent of those bitten by infected mosquitos will not show any symptoms at all. However:
“The other 20 percent can show fever, muscle pains, joint pains, muscle pains, diarrhea and even rash.”
And he says one percent of THOSE can develop severe neurological symptoms.
The first human case of West Nile virus in LOS ANGELES County for the 2016 season was reported on July 20th.
