LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Businessman Darrell Park has officially advanced to
the November runoff election in his bid for the Fifth District seat on the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors, according to final results released today.
With all ballots tallied from the June 7 election, Park finished with
55,185 votes, or 15.5 percent, ahead of Sen. Bob Huff, who had 52,359, or 14.71
percent, according to results released by the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
Park had just a 417-vote lead over Huff in the semiofficial ballot count
released June 8, the morning after the June 7 primary election.
Park will square off in November against the top vote-getter in the
race, Kathryn Barger, chief deputy to outgoing Supervisor Michael Antonovich.
She topped the eight-candidate field with 105,520 votes, 29.64 percent.
Because no candidate received a majority in the June 7 primary, the top
two finishers will meet in a runoff in the Nov. 8 general election.
