ANTA ANA (CNS) – Orange County held its inaugural gay pride parade
today amid stepped-up security in the wake of the recent mass shooting at a gay
nightclub in Orlando.
The parade, on Main Street in downtown Santa Ana between Washington and
Third streets, went off as scheduled with no disturbances or arrests, Santa Ana
Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told City News Service.
The parade was part of the OC Pride Festival, which continues into this
evening at the Yost Theater at 307 N. Spurgeon St. The headline performer is
singer-songwriter Steve Grand.
Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, is scheduled to speak as well.
