Officials with Southern California Gas Company, testifying at public hearing before the Los Angeles City Council have said it will take between 3-to-4 months to completely cap the leaking gas well.  SoCal Gas says they have tried six different attempts to cap the runaway leak in well SS25.  All attempts have failed.  Beginning later this week So Cal Gas engineers will begin drilling a relief well to intercept well SS25 drill hole more than 8-thousand feet into the earth and take control of the well.  Heavy fluids and concrete will then be pumped into the well.  So Cal Gas says they are permanently sealing up the well and have no plans to salvage or repair the well.
