The Lake Fire, a massive wildfire in the mountains near Big Bear Lake is continuing to chew through tinder dry old-grown forest. KABC’s Tom Perumean has this update.
At last report the Lake Fire has consumed over 17-thousand acres—or 21 square miles—and is 19-percent contained. More than 1400 firefighters are on the lines. Meteorologist Derek Van Dam says a lot more than trees are threatened.
Burning logs have been reported running down hill and setting new areas on fire. Residents are being told to avoid Highway 38 as it runs through the area and is the main containment line with a lot of heavy fire equipment on the line. Tom Perumean, KABC NEWS.
